Focus Group Discussion on the Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) for East Kalimantan Province in 2023

Tuesday (5/3), BPS-Statistics Kalimantan Timur Province together with Bakesbangpol Kalimantan Timur Province held a Focus Group Discussion on the 2023 Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) at the Aston Hotel, Samarinda. In the event which was opened directly by the Head of the Bakesbangpol, Mr. Sufian Agus, also present were the Head of the General Section of BPS-Statistics Kalimantan Timur Province, Mr. Maibu Barwis Sugiharto and the IDI Facilitator, Mrs. Emmy Maksum. Apart from that, participants who attended this FGD came from various groups directly related to IDI indicators including the DPRD Secretariat, PTUN Representatives, OPD Representatives, Academics, Journalists, Political Parties, Security Apparatus, NGOs, Student Organizations, Community Organizations , as well as committees from BPS and Bakesbangpol.

This FDG IDI activity is one of the stages of data collection, to explore various information (qualitative data) related to IDI indicators that have not been obtained through reviewing newspapers and documents. Through IDI FGD activities, information was obtained about participants' opinions and assessments in the form of verification, confirmation and disconfirmation by related parties, which includes the Freedom Aspect (7 indicators), the Equality Aspect (7 Indicators), and the Capacity Aspect of Democratic Institutions (8 Indicators). Information, confirmation and input obtained through this FGD are documented for further use at the IDI calculation stage. By carrying out the IDI FGD, it is hoped that the 2023 Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) for East Kalimantan Province will be produced which truly describes the condition of democracy in East Kalimantan Province during 2023.
