Abstract

The Agriculture Sector has an important role in the Indonesian economy, both in terms of labor absorption, foreign exchange earners, food producers of the basic needs of the Indonesian people as well as producing raw materials for downstream industries that process agricultural products.

Figures for paddy production according to preliminary figures for 2005 were 349 183 tons, while for paddy fields were 148 786 tons so the provisional figures for 2005 for Kalimantan Timur were 497 969 tons
