Abstract

Kalimantan Timur experienced an inflation of 0.75 percent in May, or an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 150.01 in April 2007 to 151.13 in May 2007. With this inflation rate, the inflation rate for calendar year 2007 (January-May 2007) Kalimantan Timur only reached 1.92 percent and the 'year on year' inflation rate (May 2007 against May 2006) reached 5.34 percent.

Samarinda City experienced inflation of 1.28 percent and Balikpapan City experienced inflation of 0.12 percent. Thus for these two cities the inflation rate for calendar year 2007 (January-May) has reached 2.64 and 1.09 percent, respectively. While the inflation rate year on year (May 2006-May 2007) reached 6.61 and 3.86 percent, respectively.
