Abstract

Starting in June 2008 the base year for calculating the Consumer Price Index (CPI) used 2007 = 100 (formerly 2002 = 100) based on the results of the 2007 Cost of Living Survey (SBH). City coverage increased from 45 to 66 cities. Whereas Kalimantan Timur which previously had 2 cities became 3 cities namely Samarinda, Balikpapan and 1 additional city namely Tarakan
  • Kalimantan Timur experienced an inflation of 1.52 percent in July 2008, or an increase in CPI from 112.61 in June 2008 to 114.32 in July 2008. With this inflation rate, the inflation rate for calendar year 2008 (January-July 2008) East Kalimantan has reached 10.83 percent and the 'year on year' inflation rate (July 2008 to July 2007) reached 14.99 percent.
  • CPI cities in Kalimantan Timur show that Samarinda experienced inflation of 1.23 percent, Balikpapan 1.67 percent and Tarakan 2.14 percent. Thus for these three cities the inflation rate inflation rate for calendar year 2008 (January-July 2008) reached 10.87 each; 9.42 and 15.04 percent and the 'year on year' inflation rate (July 2008-July 2007) reached 15.92, 12.94 and 17.91 percent, respectively.
