Abstract

The economy of Kalimantan Timur based on the PDRB based on current prices in the second quarter of 2008 reached Rp. 70.68 trillion, while the GRDP at constant 2000 prices is Rp. 25.65 trillion.
Kalimantan Timur economic growth in the second quarter of 2008 compared to the first quarter of 2008 (q-to-q) of 0.72 percent, slowed compared to the previous quarter of 0.77 percent. While growth in the second quarter of 2008 compared to the same quarter of the previous year (y-on-y) grew by 6.83 percent, higher than the second quarter of 2007 which was 0.37 percent.
The rate of economic growth (with oil and gas) in the second quarter of 2007 (q-to-q) viewed from the supply side was more influenced by the decline in several main sub-sector production, namely: Oil and Gas (-0.22 percent) and Liquid Natural Gas (- 2.69 percent). While the rate of economic growth without oil and gas is more influenced by the increased production of Mining without Oil and Gas (Coal: 2.96 percent), Trade (2.46 percent) and Buildings (3.26 percent). Specifically in the Agriculture sector in the second quarter of 2008 there was a decrease in the Tabama sub-sector (-11.27 percent), but offset by an increase in the Plantation sub-sector (3.55 percent) and Fisheries (1.64 percent).
