Abstract

The economy of Kalimantan Timur based on the amount of GRDP based on current prices in the third quarter of 2008 reached Rp. 79.41 trillion, while the GRDP at a constant 2000 price of Rp. 26.03 trillion.

Kalimantan Timur economic growth in the third quarter of 2008 compared to the second quarter of 2008 (q-to-q) of 1.31 percent, higher than the previous two quarters of 0.82 percent and 0.84 percent, respectively. Similarly, growth in the third quarter of 2008 compared to the same quarter the previous year (y-on-y) grew by 5.53 percent, higher than the third quarter of 2007 which was 1.23 percent.

The rate of economic growth (with oil and gas) in the third quarter of 2007 (q-to-q) viewed from the business sector side tends to increase, except for the performance of two subsectors that experienced negative growth. The petroleum refining industry in the quarter experienced a negative correction of 3.21 percent after experiencing a significant increase in the second quarter of 6.02 percent. Specifically for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sub-sector in the quarter recorded a pretty positive increase of 2.13 percent, Mining without Oil and Gas (Coal: 1.34 percent) and Trade (3.50 percent)
