Abstract

Kalimantan Timur experienced an inflation of 0.76 percent in August 2009, or an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 118.72 in July 2009 to 119.63 in August 2009. With this inflation rate, the inflation rate for the calendar year 2009 (Jaruari-August 2009) Kalimantan Timur has reached 2.57 percent and the 'year on year' inflation rate (August 2009 to August 2008) reached 3.95 percent.

Samarinda, Balikpapan and Tarakan in August experienced inflation of 0.78; 0.66 and 0.97 percent Thus for these three cities the inflation rate for calendar year 2009 (January-August) has reached 2.52; 2.18 and 3.88 percent. While the year on year inflation rate (August 2008-August 2009) each reached 3.67; 3.02; and 7.66 percent.
