During May 2020, there was an inflation of 0.21 percent in Kalimantan Timur Province.

Abstract

  • In May 2020, out of 90 national CPI monitoring cities, 67 cities experienced inflation and 23 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan by 1.20 percent and the lowest occurred in Tanjung Pinang, Bogor and Madiun each by 0.01 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Banggai by -0.39 percent and the lowest in Manado by -0.01 percent.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province (Combined Samarinda Municipality and Balikpapan Municipality ) in May 2020 experienced inflation of 0.21 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 0.63 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 1.54 percent.
  • In May 2020 there was inflation for Samarinda Municipality of 0.14 and inflation in Balikpapan Municipality of 0.31 percent.
  • Inflation was due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in several indexes of the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.54 percent; followed by transportation by 0.68 percent; information, communication and financial services by 0.32 percent; the personal care and other services group by 0.16 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 0.11 percent; food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.09 percent; health group of 0.08 percent; and household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance by 0.03 percent. Groups that experienced a decline in the index were the clothing and footwear group by -0.79 percent and the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by -0.10 percent. The stable group is the education group, which is 0.00 percent.
