December 2021, there was inflation of 0.68 percent in Kalimantan Timur Province.

Abstract

In December 2021, of the 90 cities monitored by the national CPI, 88 cities experienced inflation and 2 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jayapura at 1.91 percent and the lowest at 0.07 percent occurred in Pekanbaru. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Dumai of -0.13 percent and the lowest of -0.04 percent occurred in Bukittinggi.

Kalimantan Timur Province (Samarinda Municipality and Balikpapan Municipality Combined) in December 2021 there will be inflation of 0.68 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 2.15 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 2.15 percent.

In December 2021, there was inflation for Samarinda Municipality of 0.65 percent and in Balikpapan Municipality there was also inflation of 0.72 percent.

Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in several indexes of expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages, and tobacco by 1.78 percent; followed by the transportation group by 1.39 percent; household equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance group by 0.39 percent; personal care and other services group by 0.29 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.15 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups by 0.09 percent; health group by 0.09 percent; recreation, sports and culture groups by 0.06 percent; and the education group by 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that showed a decrease were the clothing and footwear group by -0.90 percent; and the information, communication, and financial services group by -0.24 percent.
