During January 2022, there was inflation of 0.87 percent in Kalimantan Timur

Abstract

In January 2022, of the 90 cities monitored by the national CPI, 85 cities experienced inflation and 5 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga at 1.53 percent and the lowest at 0.02 percent occurred in Manokwari. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Kotamobagu at -0.66 percent and the lowest at -0.04 percent occurred in Jayapura.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province (Samarinda City and Balikpapan City Combined) in January 2022 experienced inflation of 0.87 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 0.87 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 2.88 percent.
  • In January 2022 there was inflation for Samarinda City of 0.91 percent and in Balikpapan City there was also inflation of 0.81 percent.
  • Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in several indexes of expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages, and tobacco by 2.24 percent; followed by personal care and other services group by 0.84 percent; recreation, sports and culture groups by 0.82 percent; transportation group by 0.73 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups by 0.56 percent; household equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance group by 0.51 percent; health group by 0.04 percent; and the education group by 0.02 percent. The food and beverage/restaurant supply group tends to be stable with inflation of 0.00 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that showed a decrease were the clothing and footwear group by -1.15 percent; and the information, communication, and financial services group by -0.09 percent.
