A combination of 2 CPI Cities in Kalimantan Timur Province experienced an inflation of 0.18 percent

Abstract

  • In June 2023, out of 90 cities under national CPI monitoring, 78 cities experienced inflation and 12 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jayapura at 1.36 percent, and the lowest inflation at 0.01 percent occurred in Metro, DKI Jakarta, Kudus and Ternate. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Sumenep of 0.42 percent and the lowest deflation of 0.02 percent occurred in Mataram.
  • In Kalimantan Timur Province, which is a combination of 2 CPI Cities, Samarinda and Balikpapan, in June 2023 there was inflation of 0.18 percent, with calendar year inflation of 1.94 percent and year-on-year inflation of 3.76 percent.
  • In June 2023 there was inflation in Samarinda of 0.25 percent and in Balikpapan there was inflation of 0.08 percent.
  • In general, combined inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by increases in several price indices for the expenditure group, namely: the transportation group by 1.25 percent; then the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group by 0.34 percent; the education group by 0.1 percent; the health group and the recreation, sports and culture group each by 0.02 percent; then the information, communication and financial services group by 0.01 percent. In contrast, the group that experienced a decline in the price index was the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.01 percent and the clothing and footwear group by 0.37 percent. Meanwhile, the food, beverage and tobacco group tends to be stable in June 2023.
