Abstract

The number of labor force based on the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) in Kalimantan Timur Province in August 2023 was 1,950,860 people, representing an increase of 98,058 people compared to August 2022. The labor force participation rate increased by 0.84 percentage points.
Employment conditions in Kalimantan Timur Province in August 2023 have recovered compared to before the pandemic. The unemployment rate in Kalimantan Timur Province in August 2023 was 5.31 percent, decrease by 0.40 percentage points compared to August 2022.
The employed people in Kalimantan Timur Province is 1,847,295 people, representing an increase of 100,375 people from August 2022. The sector with the largest increase in employment is the Mining & Quarrying Sector (23,564 people). Meanwhile, the sector with the largest decrease in employment was the Manufacturing Industry (7,047 people).
As many as 1,022,137 people (55.33 percent) worked in formal activities, decrease by 0.41 percentage points compared to August 2022.
The percentage of underemployment decreased by 1.37 percentage points and the percentage of voluntary part-time workers decreased by 2.59 percentage points compared to August 2022.
