The Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) for May 2024 is 136.10, or down 1.21 percent compared to the NTP in April 2024. The Value of Exchange Rate of Agricultural Household Businesses (NTUP) for May 2024 is 141.22, or down 1.63 percent compared to NTUP in April 2024.

Abstract

The Farmer's Terms of Trade (NTP) for May 2024 experienced a slight decline due to a decrease in the Index of Prices Received by Farmers (It) by 1.55%, while the Index of Prices Paid by Farmers (Ib) only decreased by 0.35%. This indicates that farmers' purchasing power has slightly weakened compared to the previous month.
In May 2024, only one subsector experienced an increase in NTP, namely the livestock subsector with a growth of 1.48%. On the other hand, four subsectors experienced declines: food crops (-1.84%), horticulture (-1.24%), estate crops (-1.70%), and fisheries (-0.11%).
The overall Farmer's Household Income (NTUP) for May 2024 was 141.22, representing a decrease of 1.63% compared to April 2024. Similar to the NTP, NTUP also showed a mixed performance across subsectors. The livestock subsector experienced an increase of 1.30%, while the remaining subsectors experienced declines: food crops (-2.12%), horticulture (-1.76%), estate crops (-2.16%), and fisheries (-0.83%).
