Abstract

The number of workers based on the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) in Kalimantan Timur Province in August 2024 was 2,083,469 people, an increase of 132,609 people compared to August 2023. The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) increased by 1.50 percentage points.
  • The open unemployment rate (TPT) in Kalimantan Timur Province in August 2024 was 5.14 percent, down 0.17 percentage points compared to August 2023.
  • The working population in Kalimantan Timur Province was 1,976,447 people, an increase of 129,152 people from August 2023. The employment sector that experienced the largest increase in labor absorption was the Construction Sector (29,078 people). Meanwhile, the sector that experienced the largest decrease in the working population was the Corporate Services Sector (7,358 people).
  • A total of 1,139,987 people (57.68 percent) work in formal activities, up 2.35 percentage points compared to August 2023. The percentage of underemployed is 4.61 percent, up 1.16 percentage points and the percentage of part-time workers is 19.95 percent, up 1.03 percentage points compared to August 2023.
