Abstract

  • The export value of  Kalimantan Timur Province in October 2024 was recorded at US$2,195.81 million, an increase of 34.47% compared to September 2024.
  • The oil and gas exports in October 2024 were recorded at US$306.24 million, an increase of 167.65 percent compared to September 2024. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas exports were recorded at US$1,889.57 million, an increase of 24.44 percent.
  • Cumulatively, the export value of Kalimantan Timur Province during January–October 2024 was recorded at US$20,057.41 million, a decrease of 11.56 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
  • Based on the category of goods, the largest increase in non-oil and gas export value in October 2024 compared to September 2024 occurred in the mineral fuel category, which rose by US$267.55 million (21.13 percent). Conversely, the deepest decline in export value occurred in the iron and steel category, which fell by US$12.55 million. (47,48 persen).
  • During the period from January to October 2024, China was the main export destination with the largest share, amounting to US$6,561.29 million (36.19 percent), followed by India with US$2,926.86 million (16.14 percent), and the Philippines with US$1,598.20 million. (8,82 persen).
  • During the period from January to October 2024, mining commodities remained the mainstay of Kalimantan Timur Province's exports, accounting for 73.81 percent. Industrial products ranked second with a share of 16.41 percent, and oil and gas exports ranked third with a share of 9.61 percent.
  • The three ports that contributed the most to the total export value of Kalimantan Timur Province in October 2024 are Balikpapan Port (US$578.3 million), Samarinda Port (US$516.92 million), and Bonthan Bay Port (US$345.48 million).
  • The value of imports for Kalimantan Timur Province in October 2024 was recorded at US$758.08 million, an increase of 74.00 percent compared to the import value in September 2024.
  • The value of oil and gas imports was recorded at US$570.12 million, an increase of 107.51 percent compared to the value of imports in September 2024. Meanwhile, the value of non-oil and gas imports in October 2024 was recorded at US$187.96 million, an increase of 16.79 percent.
  • The largest increase in non-oil and gas import value occurred in the category of machinery and mechanical appliances and their parts, which saw an increase of US$21.83 million (27.74 percent). Conversely, the deepest decline in value occurred in the category of rubber and rubber products, amounting to US$2.29 million. (21,20 persen).
  • Viewed from its role in total non-oil and gas imports during the January–October 2024 period, the largest contribution by country of origin was dominated by China at US$411.01 million with a share of 32.63 percent, followed by the United States at US$178.78 million with a share of 14.19 percent, and Japan at US$88.87 million with a share of 7.06 percent.
  • According to the classification of goods usage, in October 2024, the group of raw/auxiliary materials experienced the highest increase, at 77.68 percent compared to the previous month. This was followed by the group of capital goods, which increased by 35.91 percent, and the group of consumer goods, which increased by 25.97 percent.
  • The trade balance of Kalimantan Timur Province in October 2024 recorded a surplus of US$1,437.73 million. The non-oil and gas sector trade balance recorded a surplus of US$1,701.61 million, while the oil and gas sector recorded a deficit of US$263.88 million.
