The Human Development Index (HDI) of East Kalimantan in 2024 reached 78.79, an increase of 0.59 points (0.75 percent) compared to the previous year. (78,20).

Abstract

The Human Development Index (HDI) of Kalimantan Timur in 2024 has increased compared to the previous year. The increase in the HDI for 2024 occurred across all dimensions, including a long and healthy life, knowledge, and a decent standard of living.
In the dimension of a long and healthy life, babies born in 2024 are expected to live up to 74.94 years, an increase of 0.22 years compared to those born the previous year. The source of data for life expectancy at birth uses the results of the Long Form SP2020 (SP2020-LF).
In the dimension of knowledge, the expected years of schooling (EYS) for the population aged 7 years increased by 0.01 years compared to the previous year, from 14.02 to 14.03 years, while the average years of schooling (AYS) for the population aged 25 years and above increased by 0.03 years, from 9.99 years to 10.02 years in 2024. The source of data for EYS and AYS uses the results of the March Susenas.
The dimension of a decent standard of living, measured by the average real per capita expenditure per year (adjusted), increased by Rp591 thousand (4.48 percent) compared to the previous year. The source of data for real per capita expenditure per year uses the results of the March Susenas.
