Profile of the Agricultural Sector of Kalimantan Timur Province 2003

The 2003 Agricultural Census (ST03) was the fifth Agricultural Census conducted by BPS-Statistics Indonesia. Since the scope of this activity is very wide, so the data collection is carried out in stages. The first phase was carried out to carry out the registration of buildings and households (listing) in August 2003. The second stage is to collect detailed information per agricultural sub-sector, the implementation of which was carried out in 2004 and includes, among others, the sub-sectors of rice, horticulture, plantations, fisheries, animal husbandry and forestry in addition to the Farmer Income Survey. One of the purposes of the listing activity is to collect information that can describe changes in the poulation of agricultural households, both agricultural households that use land and not and also households of smallholder farmers, namely agricultural households that use land that control less than half a hectare of land. From the results of this listing activity, an analysis is needed that can describe the current agricultural condition of Kalimantan Timur which is also part of meeting the needs of local governments to identify problems and potentials of the agricultural sector in Kalimantan Timur.
