Abstract

Paddy production reached 594,622 tons, this was caused by an increase in paddy rice production reaching 44,144 tons (10.89 percent) compared to the 2007 Fixed Rate of 405,289 tons. This increase in production was due to an increase in harvested area (9.97 percent) and lowland rice productivity (0.84 percent). While field rice decreased production by 17,024 tons (-10.49 percent) from 162,213 tons to 145,189 tons, this decline in field rice production was due to reduced harvested area (land use change, shifting to plantation / oil palm commodities, etc.).

All commodities experienced an increase in production, maize 22.31 percent, soybean 26.27 percent, peanut 1.45 percent, green beans 6.59 percent, cassava 9.46 percent and sweet potato 0.57 percent.
