The Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation in January 2025 was 0.21 percent. The highest inflation occurred in Balikpapan Municipality at 0.36 percent.

Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in January 2025 was 0.21 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.86. The highest inflation occurred in Balikpapan Municipality at 0.36 percent with a CPI of 106.47, while the lowest occurred in Samarinda Municipality at 0.10 percent with a CPI of 105.26. On the contrary, there was a deflation year-on-year (y-on-y) in Penajam Paser Utara Regency at 0.13 percent with a CPI of 106.20.
Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 3.43 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 1.28 percent; Health Group of 1.78 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 1.55 percent; Education Group of 1.60 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 2.08 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 5.75 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that experienced a decline in the index, namely: Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 8.77 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 0.08 percent; Transport Group of 0.36 percent; and Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group of 0.60 percent.
On a month-to-month (m-to-m) and year-to-date (y-to-d) basis, there was a decrease in the price index (deflation) in January 2025 by 1.00 percent.

The Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation in March 2024 was 3.03 percent. The highest inflation occurred in Berau Regency at 4.05 percent.

The Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation in October 2024 was 1.75 percent. The highest inflation occurred in Berau Regency at 3.54 percent.
