Abstract

  • The export value of Kalimantan Timur Province in January 2025 was recorded at US$1,678.22 million, a decrease of 30.61 percent compared to December 2024.
  • Oil and gas exports in January 2025 amounted to US$173.91 million, down by 45.09 percent compared to December 2024. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas exports were recorded at US$1,504.31 million, a decline of 28.43 percent.
  • By commodity group, the largest increase in non-oil and gas export value in January 2025 compared to December 2024 occurred in the iron and steel category, which rose by US$11.87 million (no exports were made in December 2024). Conversely, the deepest decline in export value occurred in the mineral fuel category, decreasing by US$410.85 million (24.32 percent).
  • In January 2025, China was the main destination country for non-oil and gas exports, holding the largest share with an export value of US$510.95 million (33.97 percent), followed by India with US$231.02 million (15.36 percent) and the Philippines with US$125.57 million (8.35 percent).
  • In January 2025, mining commodities remained the leading export of Kalimantan Timur Province, accounting for 76.17 percent of total exports. Industrial products ranked second with a share of 13.39 percent, while oil and gas exports held the third position with a share of 10.36 percent.
  • The three ports contributing the most to the total export value of Kalimantan Timur Province in January 2025 were Balikpapan Port (US$466.38 million), Samarinda Port (US$371.47 million), and Tanjung Bara Port (US$252.36 million).
  • The import value of Kalimantan Timur Province in January 2025 was recorded at US$390.48 million, a decline of 24.75 percent compared to December 2024.
  • Oil and gas imports were recorded at US$279.06 million, down by 28.73 percent compared to December 2024. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas imports in January 2025 amounted to US$111.42 million, a decrease of 12.50 percent.
  • The largest increase in non-oil and gas import value occurred in the category of electrical machinery and equipment and its parts, which rose by US$18.22 million (164.29 percent). On the other hand, the deepest decline was observed in the category of machinery and mechanical equipment and its parts, which dropped by US$23.24 million (38.86 percent).
  • In terms of the contribution to total non-oil and gas imports in January 2025, the largest share came from Malaysia, amounting to US$18.17 million (16.31 percent), followed by China at US$15.44 million (13.86 percent), and the United Kingdom at US$12.53 million (11.25 percent).
  • By classification of goods usage, all categories experienced a decline in January 2025. The deepest decline occurred in the consumption goods category, which fell by 85.81 percent, followed by capital goods and raw/auxiliary materials, which decreased by 29.11 percent and 23.63 percent, respectively.
  • The trade balance of Kalimantan Timur Province in January 2025 recorded a surplus of US$1,287.74 million. The non-oil and gas sector trade balance posted a surplus of US$1,392.89 million, while the oil and gas sector recorded a deficit of US$105.15 million.
