Abstract

Paddy production according to the Forecast Figures II reached 536,946 tons, lower than the 2006 Fixed Figures of 0.78 percent, as a result of floods in several districts and land conversion due to the growth of coal mining and oil palm plantation businesses.

The commodity crops that experienced an increase in production were peanuts by 30 tons (1.35 percent), cassava by 1,040 tons (1.03 percent). Whereas the decline was corn by 1,807 tons (12.54 percent), soybeans by 910 tons (32.70), green beans by 46 tons (4.96 percent) and sweet potatoes by 122 tons (0.46 percent).
