Abstract

Of the 1,091,625 people who worked in Kalimantan Timur in 2007 nearly half had the main occupational status as "WORKERS", totaling 465,737 people or 42.7 percent.

What is quite encouraging is the increase in the number of employers as indicated by the increasing employment status of main employers assisted by permanent / paid workers from as many as 31,148 people or 2.7 percent to as many as 32,332 people or 32,332 people or 3.0 percent. In addition, what is also interesting is the increase in the status of agricultural sector workers from as many as 17,564 people to 31,267 people due to the opening of several plantation businesses.

If you look at employment status based on formal and informal classifications of the employment structure in Kalimantan Timur Province, it is shown that some of the workforce works in informal activities, which is more than 54.4 percent.
